  • 2011 Porsche 911 spied

    Jul 17, 2008 6:01 PM

These are the first ever images of the next generation ‘998’ version of the seminal Porsche 911.
The prototype shows off significantly wider front and rear tracks, aimed at improving the car’s high-speed agility. Although this test mule is hiding behind the same looks as the recently facelifted 911 Carrera 4/4S, it’s clear that Porsche intends to stick closely to the current car’s proportions.
Porsche is simulating a new aerodynamic package with a prominent lip added to the rear spoiler, ...Read the full article

I garantee that if Porsche made the car a full 80 inches wide- which the new turbo most likely will be, it would grip better, stop better, and set an all time 911 lap record at the Nord. So Porsche just go for it make it a panzer so we can get over all the new wider track press chats. I only hope that just as there is a new buiness of over hauling old 911's there will be one for overhauling new ones, someone figure out how to cut one of these in half and lop the 10 inches off so it will actual fit on the road.

When are they going to start putting the engine in a better place? That's what I want to know. The 911 is, in a lot of ways, a 60 year engineering effort to overcome a fundamental design flaw. Which is either admirable or madness. Who knows?

Oh dear! Another three years of "reliable source at factory leaks 911 secrets"; "sneak sketch released"; "911 in special camouflage (so snappers don't miss it)"; " brochure details leaked from Latvian printers"; etc., etc.

    'toe-out' !

    Shame on you.

I thought the whole point of the 997 was to run down the clock to an all new flat 8 engined 911.

Not sure how this 998 can be that much different.

Needs a v8 and minimum 400bhp in standard form.

Did anyone else feel that Mel Gibson's remake of the 'Life of Brian' wasn't anywhere near as funny as the original? SourceTheMarket

Could not agree more. But the moment you put the powerplant somewhere sensible, all the loons who believe they're taking part in a rear-engine special experience will stop buying it.
