The sound of the Scuderia Spider

Chas Hallett
I must confess to being in two minds about the new Ferrari Scuderia Spider.

On one hand, I can't quite get my head around it. After all, what is the point of chopping the roof off what is supposed to be (and what is in reality) the ultimate road-going Ferrari?

Even in an F430, losing the roof is unlikely to do it any favours. So you'll up end with a sub-optimal version of the optimal Ferrari, if you get my drift.

On the other hand I've been lucky enough to drive a Scuderia Coupe on several occasions and it's probably the best sounding car on earth. So can you imagine how the Spider's going to sound through your favourite tunnel?

I can't quite get my head around why you can't quite get your head around the point of having a roofless version of one of the best cars in the world!

If the world was empty and I was the only person left this car would make a lot of sense. As it isn't that way  I would drive around looking like the idiot that bought the soft top version of a hard-core car. And I just can't be seen doing that...................strange.
