Chevrolet is aiming to win on price with its new entry-level diesel Captiva SUV. At £18,295 the Captiva 2.0 VCDi LS is keenly priced against rivals such as Kia’s Sorrento and the Hyundai Santa Fe. In fact it works out £1900 cheaper than Kia’s offering and a whopping £3500 less expensive than Hyundai’s entry-level SUV.
Despite the small price tag, Chevrolet claims that it hasn’t skimped on specification. Air conditioning, a glass-flip tailgate and multi-function steering wheel are all standard, along with a radio/CD player with MP3 socket, and roof rails.
The newcomer’s 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 148bhp and is mated to five-speed manual transmission. Chevrolet claims that this combination delivers 38mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 195g/km.
The Captiva 2.0-litre LS diesel is available from dealerships now.
