This is the most powerful Lotus Exige on sale.

The Sport Cup 260 is a new special edition giving the Exige's 1.8-litre supercharged engine 257bhp; a 5bhp boost over the 2007 Exige Cup. Kerb weight is just 928kg, giving a power to weight ratio of 271bhp per tonne.

To make sure we're in no doubt of its role as Lotus' most track oriented Exige, the Cup 260 comes with FIA approved roll cage, adjustable dampers and roll bar and Yokohama tyres.

More importantly, the launch control and variable traction control that debuted in the 2-Eleven is also fitted as standard, and a limited slip differential can be specified. Handling is aided by the standard aerodynamic pack, which produces an extra 40kg of downforce over the standard Exige.

All of this means your 2008 Exige Cup 260 will hit 62mph in 4.1sec, 100mph in 9.9sec, and will carry on to a top speed of 147mph.

But the most powerful Lotus Exige on sale comes at a high price - £42,000, to be precise. We certainly think it's worth it.
