Road Test
Cadillac CTS 3.6 V6 Sports Luxury
Test Date 03 September 2008
Price When New £29,366
Verdict
The latest CTS is in many ways an excellent car. Its cabin is not only attractive and comfortable but also boasts the highest standards of quality and finish ever seen on an American car, while the kit count you get for your £32,995 is stunning.
The CTS rides and handles with a fair degree of competency, if not aplomb. The fact that it is also a good looking and refreshing alternative to the executive saloon norm is a pleasant bonus.
All of which makes it even more of a shame that the drivetrain is such a disappointment. Cadillac isn’t realistically going to compete with the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar until a diesel engine option comes on stream sometime next year.
So at the moment the Cadillac CTS is a good car spoiled by an average engine and gearbox.
