Road Test

Cadillac CTS 3.6 V6 Sports Luxury

Test date 03 September 2008  Price as tested £29,366

There is an unfamiliarity about the CTS’s cabin because, for the first time in ages, here is a Cadillac that is inviting and upmarket. With the cheap plastics and naff wood banished, interior quality represents the greatest single improvement over the previous generation.

The CTS’s party piece is a touch screen that rises from the dash. In its lowered position the top of the screen remains visible to display audio information, without compromising the dash design with a large screen.

It is a neat concept, but with the flexibility of a touch screen we question the need for some of the buttons.

With reach and rake adjustment to the steering and a good range of seat movement, the CTS caters for a wide range of shapes. The front seats are firmer and more fitted than usual on an American car, yet still comfortable for straight-line motoring.
