Road Test
Caterham CSR 260
Test date 18 October 2005
Price as tested £37,000
For Blistering performance, track day potential, handling, eccentricity
AgainstPracticality, steering heavy at low speeds, relatively high price
At a glance, this may appear to be a mildly re-styled Caterham Seven, but what you’re actually looking at is the most radical single update since Caterham became custodian of the Lotus Seven in 1973. The CSR 260 features a new engine, revised chassis, new interior and new suspension (now fully independent at the rear for the first time). It’s a very powerful, very fast but very expensive little car.
